August 5th 2006. This race shows how "personal" feelings can sometimes affect one's driving orientation. I started in 19th place (placed in reverse order of lap times) and went from 19th to 3rd in the first 20 seconds of the race. I was upset with my girlfriend at the time, and called her afterwards to thank her for giving me the motivation to release my frustration in a healthy way by taking first in this race.
In this video, you are observing racing on what is known as a "road course". It is nothing like the oval common to Sunday afternoon TV, but instead involves many twists, turns and elevation changes more similar to formula one. You will also note that this was a mixed class race, with cars of all different types.
Yes, even a Volvo is in the running. The big surprise is to watch the Volvo walk away from me on the straight. Considerably faster than you would ever expect! Unfortunately, its weight through to the outside of the turn leaving a wide open inside pass for me. We were doing approximately 130 MPH at the end of the straight.
