Basic Static sEMG Troubleshooting
The following pertains to MyoVision customers using a serial port and not the VisionPort. Problem: "Error Opening Communication Port"
- If you are using Windows XP make sure when you boot the computer up the MyoVision 8000 is off. After the computer boots completely turn the MyoVision 8000 back on.
- If this is the first time they are trying to use the MyoVision, verify that the Myovision software is set to the proper port. Once you get the “error opening communication report” message, the MyoVision software needs to be closed and then restarted in-between changes and com checks.
- Is there palm pilot software installed on the computer? If so, exit the hot sync manager. To do this, right click on the hot sync manager icon and choose exit. It’s located on the far right of the task bar near where the time is displayed.
- If there are infrared ports, disable them in the device manager.
- If you are using a laptop make sure you disable ALL power management options. To do this, click Start, Control Panel, and then double click on the Power Options icon. Set all minute values to Never and disable Hibernation.
The following pertains to MyoVision customers using the VisionPort. Problem: Red error screen appears when trying to do a static scan.
- Verify that the green Ready light on the VisionPort is on. If not, disconnect the VisionPort USB cable from the computer for 10 seconds and the reattach.
- Click Setup - Settings - VisionPort and make sure the "sEMG use VisionPort" checked box is checked.
